RIBS!!! It's that time again!!!

Mark your calendars!! Saturday Jun 12, Owasso First Assembly of God is cooking a HUGE batch of smoked Pork Ribs.
These ribs are known county wide and are some of the best you can get in Owasso. Come help support our 2010 Youth Missions trip
and get a rack of ribs or two.

The ribs will be ready for pick up just after noon on Saturday the 12th of June. Each rack is 20$ and we are sure you won't be disappointed.

Also available is fresh roasted fair trade coffee. Both Regular and Decaffeinated in either Medium or Dark roast. Coffee is 12.50/Pound and is
roasted in custom batches as orders add up.

Good day friends!
Thank you for stopping by. I want to take just a moment of your time to explain a bit more about what we have going on this summer.
As you can see this is my fundraising site to help us raise funds for this year's mission trips.You may have noticed that the amount is quite large, but I can assure you this is to cover a dream larger than I can explain in full at this moment. I can tell you that this is for 2 different trips. The first is nearly 5000$ and the second is 6000.
First, here is a bit about our Church. We attend First Assembly of God, in Owasso OK. We have attended OFA for over 10 years and for the last four years my kids have gone on this mission trip each year. I have been the last 3 years and my wife has been once as well. Each year we go and develop deeper relationships with our Irish friends. The goal, if I can sum it up, is to be the Hands and Feet of Jesus to the communities we serve.
At the bottom of this post I have included some pictures from our previous trips. This year, we are going to do more than we have ever in the past. For the first time this year the team will go and help minister at two of the largest events that are put on. First Summer Madness, is the premier Christian Youth Festival in Northern Ireland. Our youth will be supporting Reggie Dabbs preaching with human videos and heart stopping dramas. From the North, we will then go to the Republic and Open the Urban Soul event. We were there at the first year of this Global Youth event and you can see pictures of the things we did.
The motto for Urban Soul is "Indiscriminate acts of kindness." We as a global team, gave, built, cleaned, fed, comforted and ministered to thousands of people, wanting nothing in return. You would not believe how hard it is to get people to accept something for nothing. The work we did, however, paid off. Later, long after we left, the local Pastor was called to a meeting, where the people we helped spoke up in favor of what we did and told those in attendance, that no one should hesitate to accept assistance from people associated with the Urban Soul team.
Our pastor always says he won't apologize for giving you a chance to give. I won't either. I know that many hands make easy work. If everyone that took the time to read this would give $5 or $10, I have no doubt we could reach our goal in no time.
Please understand, I'm not asking for a free ride. I have skin in this game as well. I have been selling coffee and saving my own money to make up any deficit. I just have a huge dream this year and it would bless me and it would bless YOU if you could help with our trips.

    This is the best pound of coffee beans that 12.50$ can buy.. Local folks that order will have this coffee with in 5-7 days of roasting. Distant folks will have to talk about shipping.

    I need your Help.

    I thought this year would be different. I had great hopes to start my fund raising early. It was not that I have done none, but what I am doing is moving a bit slowly. I really had planned better this year, but as things are, we are needing help.

    First I want to tell you about what is going on. Again this year we are going to Ireland to help with youth missions. Over the last years we have been involved and blessed very much to have been a part.

    Last yearâ??s Urban Soul Navan, was a great success. We were able to come along side the local Church and reach the community in a very real way. First thing we did was to visit an assisted living home. We were asked to clean and maintain the grounds. We went at this task with great energy and in doing so, the caretaker noticed.

    The next day we went to center for disadvantaged people. We were to paint, build a wall and just try to show the Love of G-d to the residents. As it turns out, some of the supplies started running short and the manager gave our team money to replenish some of the supplies. Well, any one that knows us, knows we do everything in our power to pay our own way and take nothing from our hosts. A few phone calls were made and as suspected we decided that it would be a better witness to make up the supply money from our funds. We insisted that the manager take back the cash and it humbled him to tears. To us, it was just what we needed to do. To him, it was a never before moment. He had never before seen people acting as the Body of Christ and doing without asking.

    Last day there we again were cleaning and making the headquarters of our sponsors ready for a Member meeting the next day. Our ground rules were again a bit more restrictive than we were used to, but we went above and beyond and delivered. Months after we left, we had heard that they invited the Pastor to a meeting to recognize him for all the work that was done. Going into this trip, we were placed into a different mode of operation. The net result is that Jesus was lifted up. The World was shown a bit of Light. People were touched. We left enriched.

    That to say.. We need your help.. Please pray for our trip, our youth, our 'mission' and for favor in raising funds. This year, both Angela and I are going again. The trip is going to cost $2400 per person. I would ask that you pray and consider helping us with our trip. Even just $20.00 would go along way if a few hundred of my closest friends would ChipIn. I will post up pictures from last year for you to see. Above all, Please Pray...

    G-d has put some huge things on my heart that I will post about soon. Some are premature to announce others are just to sensitive. The need is Great, but I know that my G-d is able. I just have to trust and ask.
